Wow. Today we have witnessed what no nature lover should ever witness.
But first, let us start at the beginning.
On Friday, the first beauteous day of summer (not June 21) Sandee and I were outside. We were readying ourselves for a Backyard Bash, and we were excited. As we ran around, we saw three baby birds. They were in a fountain of sort, with rocks stooping down. This was obviously too treacherous for three helpless, innocent little birds. They were, however big baby birds, because their mother was a big bird, The babies were about as big as a full grown robin.
So as Sandee and I watched them, we noticed one had a broken wing, with feathers missing from it's neck. It was skinnier than the others, which lead me to think the other babies, now named Lila and Oliver, starved and beat up the runt. I was concerned and wanted to keep it. BTW me is Paige. Sandee said not to. So we didn't.
So today we checked on the birds. We saw the two babies but not the third broken one. So we went looking for the third one. Right as we started our search, I, Sandee, found it. It was dead in the pond. It's head was laying on a lilypad. Its body floated on the murky water. It was depressing.
What we did, was we buried it. We pulled it from the pond, dug a hole, and buried it. Then we put a note on top of it and some flowers. We all cried and mourned.
To honor this baby bird, that we now call Hope, we created a chant, a song, and an idea. We hope that baby bird now flies in better skies.
We have now decided that now we will be vegitarian for a whole week. Paige and I have wanted to be vegitarian for a try for a while now. So we decided while we mourn for the baby, we will be vegitarian! Wish us luck.
Hope, we hope for you.....
